Emily Ratajkowski, Kendall Jenner, and the Hadid sisters are just a few members of the fashion elite that can be seen wearing Pia Arrobio’s silky slip dresses, linen bra tops, and basic bodysuits – partly because they’re her friends, but mostly because her designs nail the effortlessly laid-back look they all strive to embody.
An acronym for her full name (Lara Pia Arrobio), Arrobio created LPA after hustling her way from waitressing and blogging to a design gig at Reformation. She spoke with us about how Bulletproof coffee, kisses from her dog, and (almost) 7 hours of sleep fuel her success.
What do you wear to sleep?
Pia: Either nothing or silk, vintage nighties.
Go-to late night snack?
Pia: Monkfruit sweetened dark chocolate bar.
What is your bedtime ritual?
Pia: I do a facemask, brush my hair, put lotion on my hands and feet, scrub my lips, put a lip mask on, and drink water with magnesium.
What’s keeping you up at night right now?
Pia: My relationship.
Do your electronics sleep with you?
Pia: I’m trying to do no computer after seven and [leave] my phone in the bathroom. That’s my new thing.
Last thing you do before going to sleep?
Pia: Kiss my dog and force him to cuddle with me.
How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
Pia: I go to sleep around 11 and wake up at 6:15, so how many hours is that? 7!
Last dream you remember?
Pia: I walked in on my ex having sex with another person.
What else do you do in your bed besides sleep?
Pia: I do private things.
First thing you do when you get out of bed?
Pia: Kiss my dog and make hot lemon water.
What gives you energy throughout the day?
Pia: Bulletproof coffee!
Why is being creative director at LPA important to you?
Pia: I think it’s important to make clothes that women feel good in. When you’re confident and feel good in your clothes, you attract more positive things and the world is a better place.
How does sleep impact your day?
Pia: If I don’t get a good night sleep, I don’t have a day.
What do you want to be when you wake up?
Pia: I wanna feel positive, liked, happy, and I don’t wanna feel bloated.
What city do you sleep in?
Pia: My name is Pia Arrobio and I sleep in Venice Beach, California!
