James Ryan Ohliger first started making videos for his high school girlfriends, but it wasn’t until after completing a finance degree at Boston College and a few unfulfilling years in the consulting world that he decided to turn his love for video into a career. Within a year, his goofy charm and relatable content garnered over 200,000 Instagram followers.
Somewhere between posting for his now 265,000 Insta followers, recording his daily vlog, and co-founding a new influencer marketing agency, Jerry Media, we caught up with him to see how he fits in time for sleep.
What’s keeping you up at night right now?
Krispy Shorts: Probably stress thinking about what I have to do tomorrow or a TV show that I have to watch before I go to bed. “Vikings” I’m super into right now, also I just got into “Lost.”
What do you wear to sleep?
Krispy Shorts: I wear boxers and a big fluffy t-shirt. It’s like way too long. It goes down to my knees. It’s really weird, but it’s super comfy; it’s like silk.
Go-to late night snack?
Krispy Shorts: Domino’s Pizza. I have an app. I just send a pizza emoji and it literally gets delivered to my door in half an hour.
Last thing you do before going to sleep?
Krispy Shorts: Take my socks off.
How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
Krispy Shorts: I shoot for 8.
Last dream you remember?
Krispy Shorts: My teeth fell out. I know there’s some significance to that. It wasn’t a good one so I chose to forget it.
What else do you do in your bed besides sleep?
Krispy Shorts: I do sex, I watch movies, and I hang out with my girlfriend.
Why is vlogging important to you?
Krispy Shorts: It’s the best way for me to express myself on a daily basis and I like to create things where I get stressed out that I’m being a deadbeat. [I’ve put a vlog up] everyday for 305 days in a row…so far. You gotta set yourself goals.
What’s your relationship with your electronics? Do they sleep with you?
Krispy Shorts: Electronics are everything to me as I think they are to everybody who’s the age of 18 to 35. I have a Mophie [charger] on me at all times; my charger sleeps right next to me. I’m in love with my electronics. My phone [sleeps closer to me than my girlfriend]; it’s right under me.
If you had an extra fifteen minutes in your day, what would you do with it?
Krispy Shorts: Go for a walk.
What city do you sleep in?
Krispy Shorts: I sleep in Nolita.
