Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda have nothing on Natalie Grossman. Founder of Flexx & the City, this entrepreneur takes New York City by storm with fashion, food, clothing, and, of course, fitness.
Grossman’s blog offers ways to live your best life — from mindful eating recipes to core workouts. Using her knowledge of fitness and passion for health, Grossman shares her lifestyle philosophy, one post at a time.
We caught up with the NYC native to discuss all things wellness, including a healthy dose of sleep — and apple cider vinegar.
What’s keeping you up at night right now?
Lately I sleep like the dead. Hit the pillow and don’t move till I wake up in the morning. But when I do have sleepless nights it’s typically because of stress, way too many things racing through my brain and I can’t shut it off.
What do you wear to sleep?
Plain white Gap undies and a white T-shirt. It’s like a uniform — I have drawers full of each. Or naked, but my dad may be reading this so…
Go-to late night snack?
I love ice cream, but I try to stay away from it. Green tea mochi is having a moment for me.
Last thing you do before going to sleep?
Pee. If I wake up in the middle of the night, then it’s game over for me.
How many hours do you sleep?
If I don’t get 7 hours, [then] I am really good at taking naps.
What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Take a swig of apple cider vinegar. A lot of people mix it with water, but I go straight to the source.
What else do you do in your bed besides sleep?
Ummmm…
What makes you fall asleep?
A really brutal work out. I also like when the room is cold and the fan is blowing and I am smothered in blankets.
Why is Flexx & The City important to you?
I get to share the parts of my life I love most, be creative, and hopefully drop a daily dose of positivity into your social feed.
How does sleep impact your day?
Majorly. I need my sleep. If I don’t get it, it’s apparent. I am a far nicer and more productive person with sleep.
How do you deal with stress?
I go to the gym. Endorphins are a wonderful thing.
If you have an extra 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
Probably get in a quick sweat. I’m a little addicted.
What do you want to be when you wake up?
Well rested.
What city do you sleep in?
NYC, no place like home.
